(Video) United chiefs spotted in Barcelona as De Jong saga could reach decisive stages

Manchester United are getting fed up waiting for Frenkie de Jong to join the club as a new signing. It still feels like it will happen as the club remains optimtaisc but it’s far from ideal that the first-team is on tour while our main target target has yet to sign anything definite.

We hope that Barcelona’s quest to sign Leeds and Brazil winger Raphinha helps speed up the process on the Frenkie de Jong front because there hasn’t been any significant updates in weeks.

ESPN journalist Alex Shaw claims John Murtough and Richard Arnold have been spotted in Barcelona and that could be a sign that we are reaching decisive stages in the whole saga.

Shaw tweeted: “Man Utd’s Richard Arnold and John Murtough are in Barcelona. Barcelona close to signing Raphinha at Leeds (£60m+) so the interminable Frenkie De Jong saga could be in its decisive stages…”

A picture is now doing the rounds of the two Manchester United chiefs in Barcelona, as seen below courtesy of Alex Turk via @JijantesFC:

According to The Athletic, United have sent a delegation to Barcelona to hold face-to-face talks with Barcelona over the signing of De Jong.

It would make sense that Barcelona want to announce another signing before letting De Jong go to lessen the anger from some fans, but there is no way United can let this saga drag on for much longer.

Erik ten Hag has a squad to assemble ahead of the new season and the first pre-season friendly takes place tomorrow against Liverpool.

Hopefully the boys are in town to get business done!
