Manchester United launch improved £43m bid for Lisandro Martinez

Manchester United have submitted an improved £43m bid for Lisandro Martinez to beat Arsenal to his signature.

According to the Daily Mail, the new offer is £5m more than their last proposal, which was pushed back by the Eredivisie champions.

The Dutch giants know United and Arsenal are lurking around the Argentine centre-back trying to bolster their own defences, so it’s just a question of holding out for the biggest transfer fee and the Daily Mail states that the Ajax board will consider the new offer today.

Ajax are also said to be mindful of the player’s wish to play in the Premier League.

Martinez started 23 times in the Eredivisie last season to help them win the title. Now he could reunite with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in the best league in the world.

It is outlined in the report that Ten Hag is hoping to tempt his former club by reaching their asking price and as fans we’d like to see the deal concluded before our first pre-season game of the summer against Liverpool.

As things stand, United are going on tour with one new signing this summer following the arrival of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.

Hopefully this is the end of the Martinez saga.
