(Video) Rio Ferdinand slams Cristiano Ronaldo critics

Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave Manchester United this summer.

If widespread reports are to be believed, the Portuguese megastar is unhappy with the prospect of spending next season in the Europa League and would rather move to a club competing for Europe’s biggest prize – the Champions League.

Understandably there are large sections of fans who are gutted at the thought of losing one of the club’s greatest ever players, but one person who feels the Portugal international’s frustrations are justified is former defender Rio Ferdinand.

Speaking on his Five YouTube channel, the ex-England international said: “Of course he’s not happy!

“You’re talking about Cristiano Ronaldo here! I don’t understand how it’s a big story that Cristiano Ronaldo is not happy with the way things are at Man United. He can’t be. I wouldn’t be.

“Anyone who wants to win football matches or trophies, anyone who is used to winning and competing every year at the top of the table for the biggest prizes, and then all of a sudden isn’t — and doesn’t even qualify for the Champions League — you can’t sit here and expect them to be happy.

“He’s not happy with missing out on the Champions League, he doesn’t even know what the Europa League soundtrack sounds like! When that comes on, he’s going to be thinking “what dance am I in here?'”

  1. Rio is well out of order. Manchester United has hired a new coach with the tactical capabilities to move them forward and in the process of attaining better players. It is not all about Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s about the club as a whole. OK so he is his mate and you stand by them but to spout this BS………ppfffftt
