(Video) Ella Toone reacts to record-breaking support for Lionesses win over Austria

Manchester United Women’s star Ella Toone made a second half appearance as the Lionesses got off to a winning start at Euro 2022.

Sarina Wiegman’s side beat Austria 1-0 to kick-off this summer’s European Championship tournament.

England will see it as a positive result but one they will want to build on as favourites to win Euro 2022 outright.

The first game at Old Trafford saw a record-breaking crowd of over 68,000 thousand spectators, including Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and David de Gea, and Toone gave an interview to Sky Sports News after the match.

Toone, 22, has been a key player in Marc Skinner’s side over the past season so we know that she’s good enough to play on the international stage. It would have been an extra special occasion for her to play at the Theatre of Dreams, but she got to do so in front of her family, which she spotted in the stands.

“As soon as we stepped out for the warm-up you could hear them,” Toone said, reacting to the atmosphere at Old Trafford.

She added: “I spotted my family in the crowd and that put me in at ease. I loved it.”
