After a slow start to the window, Manchester United’s business this summer is coming along quite nicely. They are on the verge of announcing Tyrell Malacia’s arrival from Feyenoord and a deal to sign Frenkie de Jong is also progressing.
Now, it has emerged that United are in advanced talks with Ajax over Lisandro Martinez, who has signalled that he would be keen on reuniting with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Martinez was a mainstay in Ten Hag’s Ajax side, partnering Jurrien Timber at centre-back. The Argentinian was also used as a left-back and defensive midfielder under the Dutchman.
It remains to be seen whether Martinez is granted his wish of reuniting with Ten Hag but the 24-year-old reserved some kind words for him when his move to United was made official earlier this year.

“Hi Erik, I want to say thanks for everything,” Martinez is seen saying in a touching tribute to his former boss on Ajax’s official Twitter account.
“With you, I learned a lot about football. You made me a better player. You leave like a champion. You deserve it.”
With this summer’s pre-season tour just around the corner, United fans will be desperate for the club to get this deal over the line sooner rather than later.
