I always like to hear about football managers who are heavily involved in training sessions. I know Sir Alex Ferguson decided to do it to a lesser extent later on in his career, but that was because he could after laying down his foundations over a long period of time.
With Erik ten Hag, it looks like we’ve got a hands-on coach.
Sources have been impressed by his ‘strictness’ early on and you can see from the footage below he’s not afraid to lead drills on the training ground.
The Dutchman took training for the first time on Monday morning and it was noted how impressed the players were after their first session.
Ten Hag can be heard instructing a pass and move drill, and you can see how the player running with the ball has support from a runner in behind.

I suspect this will be the toughest pre-season a lot of these players have encountered because Ten Hag has a lot of work to do to boost their fitness levels.
So many teams wanted games more than us last season and that is something that must change immediately.
