We are quickly approaching the new season with Manchester United players returning to Carrington for pre-season training this week.
It will be Erik ten Hag’s first campaign in charge at Old Trafford and we are feeling cautiously optimistic about that.
I’m still unsure if he will get the backing he needs in the transfer market this summer but fans are still excited about seeing how he changes the way the team plays.
Last season was a disaster from start to finish.
But what would make a successful first season under Ten Hag?
That’s the question United We Stand editor Andy Mitten was asked on Sky Sports News, as seen below.
Although we all want to see United winning league titles again, we are miles away from the likes of Man City and Liverpool, but the respected journalist makes it clear he would be happy with a trophy and top four finish.
Top 4 + a trophy? 🏆👀

Mitten talks about how United’s third-place finish in 2005 was deemed a failure.
A sign of the times, eh?
If united only add de Jong I would say that eth would do exceptionally well to get top 4. Arsenal area strengthening big time. Conte is at spurs so I expect prob top three for them and that leaves Chelsea for 4th.
United should aim for a Liverpool thing anyhow. Style of play etc, better recruitment and basically replacing the whole squad over the next 3 years.
However the incompetence of United board really is staggering. Murtough is Woodward Mark 2 it seems.
