Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is eager to see how Erik ten Hag approaches the defensive situation in the transfer market.
United have been linked with a number of centre-back signings, but the Daily Mail claims that could depend on whether the club can offload Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe.
Harry Maguire is set to stay at United but his role as captain is up in the air.
Speaking on his Vibe with Five show via YouTube, Ferdinand said: “I’ll be interested to see what Erik ten Hag does in that area [at centre-back].
“We’re talking about the young lad, Jurrien Timber, at Ajax, a small centre-half. There’s Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly as well.
“I think one or two of those players will go. I’ll be interested to see how Ten Hag approaches the situation this summer.”

United’s quest to sign Timber looks dead in the water.
However, United have reportedly turned their attention to his defensive partner at Ajax, Lisandro Martinez.
Hopefully United can get some deals over the line before they start playing pre-season tour matches.
