Real Madrid confirm signing of defensive midfielder Rangnick recommended to United

Real Madrid have completed a deal to sign highly rated AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni on a six-year deal.

That news broke on Saturday via social media as Fabrizio Romano shared a picture of the France international wearing a Real Madrid shirt.

Los Blancos will pay €80 million plus €20m add-ons for the young midfielder, with Monaco set to make a huge profit on the player they signed from Bordeaux a year ago.

This will come as a blow to United and other clubs looking to add a defensive midfielder to their squad this summer because Tchouameni is one of the best prospects in the game.

However, we should note that United were never considered frontrunners to sign Tchoumeni, with Real Madrid’s interest well documented throughout last season.

The 22-year-old has a bright future ahead of him and, unfortunately, that will be at the Bernabeu instead of Old Trafford.

According to United We Stand editor, Andy Mitten, Tchouameni was one of the players former interim manager Ralf Rangnick advised the club to try and sign.

Mitten add there will be more information about that in the new issue of UWS released next week.

He tweeted: “Madrid sign Aurelin Tchouameni from Monaco. He was one of the players Ralf Rangnick advised MUFC to try and sign. More in the new UWS out next week.”

Tchoumeni is another player United have missed out on this summer.
