Manchester United could have a big influence on the transfer market this summer.
It turns out that by signing Barcelona midfield ace Frenkie de Dong, United could help Barcelona fund a deal to secure the signing of Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.
According to Fabrizio Romano, City are setting the price high for Silva in a bid to put off the La Liga giants – knowing they already have big issues in the financial department.
Romano says that the deal could become a genuine possibility for Barcelona if they sell United target De Jong.
Been told the main name mentioned in the meeting between Barcelona and Jorge Mendes yesterday night was Bernardo Silva. Xavi, big fan. 🇵🇹 #FCB
Man City will set a huge price tag for Bernardo. It’s not a possible deal for Barça, as of now – only in case Frenkie de Jong leaves.

While De Jong has the ability to be a fantastic signing for United, the club must make sure that he’s signing for the right reasons and not just because he is being pushed out by Barcelona.
De Jong has made it clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona. When that boat sails, the question is will he make it clear to Ten Hag that he wants to join United?
It would also be a bonus to United and everyone in the Premier League if City lost a player like Silva. As you can imagine, I’m all for that.
