Former player turned pundit Danny Murphy has urged Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag to award the side’s captaincy to a player who will be signed during this summer’s transfer window.
According to a recent report from The Sun, Ten Hag will allow the first team playing squad to decide who they would like to lead the team next season with goalkeeper David De Gea expected to win the majority vote.
However, Murphy disagrees with this approach and thinks the 20-time league winners should recruit a natural leader this summer and immediately award him the side’s armband.
😳 “Ten Hag certainly shouldn’t leave the captaincy decision to the players.”
©️ “The best thing for a new manager is to give it to a player who he brings in.”
