It would be ridiculous to expect Erik ten Hag to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title next season, but Manchester United need to improve after finishing sixth in a truly disappointing campaign.
Like former United striker Dimitar Berbatov, we are excited to see how United play under Ten Hag next season. He says it would be a “miracle” to win the league, while get back to winning trophies and qualifying for the Champions League.
United will be playing in the Europa League next season and it’s a tournament I would like to see us win again, especially after missing out against Villarreal in Gdansk but also because it has been five years since we’ve lifted a trophy.
Speaking to Betfair, Berbatov said: “I am excited for Manchester United next season under Erik ten Hag. He’s a great coach, he’s worked wonders with Ajax.
“I’m happy that he has taken charge of Man United. But let’s wait and see how he approaches things, which players he buys and sells. These are things that will give us signs of what Man United are going to do next season.
“Imagine if they win the Premier League in his first season. That would be a miracle. Let’s go back to reality, it’s not going to happen, he needs time.
“But qualifying for the Champions League and winning a trophy would be a great achievement in his first season. He has to give them something to get them going again. I hope that he can achieve that.”
