Man Utd concentrating on Frenkie de Jong deal

Manchester United are concentrating on a deal to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to reports. The former Ajax star could leave the Spanish club this season and Erik ten Hag has identified him as his top target.

De Jong has four years remaining at Barcelona but the economic issues surrounding the club could force them into a sale, with United ready to swoop in and secure their manager’s dream target.

Furthermore, a deal is now believed to be getting closer, with United putting all of their focus on securing De Jong’s services.

That’s according to talkSPORT commentator Alex Crook, who says that De Jong now accepts that he’s unlikely to stay at Barcelona due to their financial situation.

It remains to be seen whether United will stump up the cash to sign De Jong but the Netherlands international remains the club’s number one target.
