Juventus CEO responds to Paul Pogba transfer rumours

Earlier today there were reports suggesting that Juventus had invited Paul Pogba’s representative Rafaela Pimenta for talks over a potential return to Turin.

That’s right, even Sky Sports picked up on it.

It doesn’t surprise us one bit because I don’t think anyone is expecting Pogba to renew his contract at United. The fact of the matter is, it wouldn’t take him this long to make a decision if he wanted to stay.

Moreover, after cupping his ears in front of the Stretford End after the win against Norwich City, I don’t think many United fans will be losing sleep over him leaving the club this summer.

Goal journalist Romeo Agresti has shared some quotes from Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene following today’s meeting with Pogba’s representative. Unsurprisingly, he didn’t give away much, saying: “Pogba? He is a Manchester United footballer so I respect him and his team. Pogba’s prosecutors also have [Moise] Kean, [Luca] Pellegrini and we usually meet. Pogba was by no means the subject of the meeting.”

Juventus would also have reason to meet with Matthijs de Ligt, who previously worked under Erik ten Hag at Ajax before moving to Turin on a five-year deal in 2019, as per The Guardian.

Agresti has since followed up with a further tweet on the Pogba situation, adding that Juventus have concrete interest in re-signing the 29-year-old, while the player wants to take more time to evaluate all of his options.

United fans haven’t had any reason to be happy with our midfield in years, so maybe it’s time to move him on and start fresh with somebody like Frenkie de Jong.

It’s also crucial that Ten Hag signs a defensive midfielder because Nemanja Matic is leaving at the end of the season, plus his legs have been gone for years.
