Manchester United keen to sign Austrian midfielder at Hoffenheim

According to reports, Manchester United could be set to tussle with Liverpool in the transfer market for Hoffenheim midfielder Christoph Baumgartner in the summer window.

This comes from SportBILD (H/t Sport Witness) after the Austrian impressed United at the European Championships.

Jurgen Klopp is always looking to add quality to his side and it could say a lot that we are both linked with a move for Baumgartner this summer.

Ralf Rangnick is from the same school of teaching as Klopp and we all know that he has an eye for talent in the Bundesliga and beyond.

At 22-years-old, Baumgartner could be one for the future, but we already have a few players in that transition.

He has managed 29 games for Hoffenheim this season, scoring 6 goals and providing one assist in all competitions.

Furthermore, the Bundesliga star’s contract doesn’t expire until 2025, but there is a €30m release clause that could easily speed up the process.

Multiple sensible signings would make a lot more sense than a few marque buys… I hope they’re listening to Rangnick in there!
