Manchester United make enquires about young Premier League striker

Manchester United can finally progress with negotiations for certain transfer targets now Erik ten Hag has been announced as the new permanent manager.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United director or negotiations, Matt Judge, has enquired about a young Premier League striker as the club seeks a younger option up front.

Who could this be?

I wouldn’t be surprised if MEN reporter Samuel Luckhurst was referring to Armando Broja.

The 20-year-old forward, who came through the ranks at Chelsea, has got his first taste of Premier League football this season while on loan at Southampton. Under the guidance of Saints’ boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, Broja has developed well and earned a regular starting spot in his side, getting regular minutes under his belt and cause endless problems for top-flight defenders.

However, the Albanian is going through a dry spell at the moment, with no goals in his last nine games for club and country.

He hasn’t been linked with a move to United just yet, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was a young Premier League on our radar.

Broja is set to return to Chelsea at the end of the season but we suspect there will be more about his future in the coming weeks.

The Manchester Evening News adds that United have already begun working on a deal to sign Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, while Villarreal’s Pau Torres is seen as a target to partner Raphael Varane at centre-back.
