Manchester United are back in action this weekend as they make the short trip to Goodison Park to face a struggling Everton side in a must-win clash for both teams.
Ralf Rangnick’s side are within touching distance of the Champions League places but cannot afford to drop more points whilst Everton are in dire need of a win.
Regardless of where United end up this season, it’s expected that Ajax coach Erik ten Hag will take the reigns at Old Trafford this summer.
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand gave his two cents on the situation ahead of Saturday’s encounter, insisting that the new manager needs to be given time in order to succeed at the Theatre of Dreams.
"Now is a period that they need to be patient."
"What he has done with Ajax is brought in players and made them better."
Is Erik ten Hag going to be the next Man Utd manager? 🤔
If so, @rioferdy5 and @JoleonLescott insist he needs support and patience in order to succeed. pic.twitter.com/hUIt9ruhB7

“Ten Hag, if he’s the guy that does come in, and we’re hearing the reports today it might be, listen, I don’t think there’s any candidate out there where you go ‘Right, he’s the guy, he’s definitely going to give us a great opportunity to winning and challenging,'” Ferdinand told BT Sport, as seen above.
“I think he just needs support but he’s someone who needs the framework behind him to be able to execute. I’m talking about things behind the scenes.
“Then he has to provide the foundations for the framework behind the team and build a culture.”
Ten Hag is yet to put pen to paper on an agreement to become the next manager at Manchester United but the Dutchman has been heavily linked with the job.
Over a month remains of the season for both Ajax and Manchester United, which could mean that any official announcement from either club could be a while.
