With just three points separating Manchester United from the final Champions League place, three points is a must for Ralf Rangnick’s side on Saturday as they made the short trip down to Goodison Park.
The German coach was forced into a couple of changes for the game against the struggling Merseyside club, with Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw replaced due to injuries.
Rangnick did, however, raise eyebrows when Paul Pogba was dropped to the bench despite Scott McTominay’s absence. Nemanja Matic was given the nod instead of the Frenchman.
But clearly, he hasn’t taken his exclusion to heart as he remained in high spirits ahead of kick-off. Rio Ferdinand, who works as a pundit for BT Sport, was spotted in a humorous exchange with Pogba, as seen below.

“You almost nutmegged me!” Ferdinand told the 29-year-old whilst returning Pogba’s wayward ball. Ferdinand also commented on the uncertainties over Manchester United’s managerial situation prior to the game, insisting the new manager needs to be given support in order to succeed.
