‘Sending strength and courage’ – Manchester United send message to Louis van Gaal

Manchester United have sent a message to their former manager Louis van Gaal, who is battling an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

The Dutchman took charge at Old Trafford for two years between 2014 and 2016, winning the FA Cup but ultimately serving up boring football, but we had a number of memorable moments with the managerial icon.

On Sunday, Van Gaal sadly revealed that he has cancer – something that he has been keeping as a secret from his players. The Netherlands manager explained that he did not want to distract them.

Manchester United took to social media to send a message to Van Gaal, writing: “Everybody at Manchester United is fully behind our former manager, Louis van Gaal, in his battle against cancer.

“Sending you strength and courage, Louis.”
