Young England captain signs contract with Manchester United

Manchester United have reportedly agreed a transfer deal to sign Brighton and England wonderkid Toby Collyer.

The youngster is said to have already signed his contracts to join United’s academy, with Fabrizio Romano claiming this is a done deal.

The Italian journalist tweeted: “Done deal, Toby Collyer will join Manchester United as contracts have been signed today. Talented midfielder born in 2004 leaves Brighton to join Man United youth team.

“Collyer has already captained England youth and he signs with United on a three year and half deal.”

United have signed a number of brilliant young players for their academy in recent years, including Charlie McNeill, Joe Hugill and Ethan Ennis.

Collyer has captained England at youth level, so he’s clearly showed lots of ability down the years and it’s good to see United snapping up the best young talent around. Hopefully they all have bright futures at the club.

The experience of captaining England at such a young age could serve him well in the years to follow whenever he’s ready for first team football.

It goes without saying that United need to improve their first team this summer, but it’s never a bad idea to plan for the future by stocking the academy with the best young players.

Welcome to United, Toby!
