Manchester United will be looking at getting back to winning ways when they take on Southampton in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds go into the game on the back of a bitterly disappointing 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor midweek whilst the visitors ran out 3-2 winners over Tottenham Hotspur.

Cristiano Ronaldo is widely expected to return to the starting eleven having been on the bench last time out and Paul Pogba is expected to keep his place after scoring against the Clarets midweek.

Despite the setback midweek, United still find themselves in a good position to finish in the top four this season. Sitting only one point behind West Ham, who sit in fourth place and with a game in hand, the Reds remain in a strong position and with the European Cup to come United still have an opportunity to make this season a success.

The Saints have had a good season thus far under Ralph Hasenhuttl and are currently sat in tenth position. They’ve already held Manchester City to two draws this season and can be a real handful on their day. James Ward-Prowse is arguably Southampton main man and if the Reds can stop him and take him out of the game then it would go a long way to stopping the Saints.

One man in particular who will be ready for this game will be Ronaldo. Having been benched against Burnley, the Portuguese will be fired up and ready to play against the Saints.

Games against Southampton are never easy and I expect Saturday to be no different. The Saints will look to make life difficult for United and they can be a real threat going forward but despite that this is a game I still expect the Reds to win.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Southampton
