Manchester United transfer target rejects new Leicester City contract

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, even back during his AS Monaco days.

The Belgium international has gone from strength to strength in the Premier League and, although the Foxes have struggled this season, there’s bound to be lots of interest when it comes to his next move.

According to The Daily Star just two days ago, cited by Sky Sports, United are moving their sights to Tielemans as a midfield target for the summer with doubts around the availability of Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has more information on Tielemans’ situation at the King Power Stadium. He tweeted: “I’ve been told Youri Tielemans will NOT extend his contract with Leicester. New deal bid has been turned down – current one expires in 2023.

“Of course Youri will be professional, he’s focused on Leicester. Many top clubs want him for June.”

Back five months ago, Spanish newspaper AS reported interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and United – suggesting all three clubs would be keen on a move for the Leicester star this year.

Time will tell if United’s reported interest is genuine.
