Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer provided an injury update on Manchester United loanee Tenden Mengi after last night’s defeat at Bournemouth.
The 19-year-old defensive talent was making his eight straight start for Bowyer’s side after joining the Championship outfit on loan last month.
However, unfortunately for Mengi, his time on the pitch was cut short last night due to an injury.
Bowyer told Birmingham City’s official website: “Young Tenden Mengi has just felt his hamstring there too. This division is ruthless and demanding and asks a lot of questions of you physically. You need the squad to cope with that.”
It sounds like Mengi will gain a lot of experience from his time away with Birmingham and that is exactly the reason United sent him there, in order to come back a better player next season.
United will have a new manager with new ideas, almost like Ralf Rangnick, who we’ve seen promote Anthony Elanga to first-team regular.
Mengi will want that too, as will James Garner and Ethan Laird…
Time will tell who will fully flourish in the United team, but it gives us plenty of reason to be excited about the future. We need that after what has been a dire season to date.
