Roberto Carlos congratulates Alex Telles after milestone Brazil moment

Manchester United left-back Alex Telles received the plaudits of Brazil legend Roberto Carlos after making his first competitive start in a World Cup qualifier.

The 29-year-old, who has been getting more game time at United recently, played the entire match as the Selecao beat Paraguay 4-0.

United team-mate Fred was an unused substitute for the match, with Brazil having already booked their place for Qatar 2022.

Telles was called into the fold after Alex Sandro tested positive for COVID-19, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport, so he had the chance to impress. Brazil managed to keep a clean sheet and win the match so at least it went to plan.

After the match, Telles shared a post to Instagram saying: “Congratulations to all for the victory. Very happy to be part of this family. Always an honour Brazil.”

Roberto Carlos was quick to comment – before United skipper Harry Maguire – by saying: “Congratulations.”

It remains to be seen whether Telles and Fred will be available for selection when United take on Middlesbrough on Friday night.
