Paul Pogba urged to delay decision on future at Manchester United

Last week we heard that Paul Pogba is open to extending his stay at Manchester United but only if Ralf Rangnick is appointed as the club’s next permanent manager.

The story was a strange one – from The Sun – because Pogba has yet to play under the German, but it is understood that he has been left impressed by a series of conversations since he replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager.

But with the 28-year-old’s contract at United expiring in June time is running out.

However, according to the Telegraph, Pogba is understood to have been urged by the club to delay a decision on his future until the France midfielder knows how the new manager is.

Names like Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag are doing the rounds and it is believed that Richard Arnold is set to speed up the appointment process after taking full charge from Ed Woodward.

Pogba has been linked with moves to PSG, Juventus and Real Madrid in recent months.

It was also added in the report that United have told loanees Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek that they will be coming back to the club at the end of the season.

Marcus Rashford, Davide de Gea, Luke Shaw, Fred and Cristiano Ronaldo are due to enter the final year of their contracts this summer, but United have options to extend those deals to June 2024. That gives them time to sort out their contract situation but they can’t leave it go down to the wire again, especially with Rashford.
