Carlos Queiroz weighs in on Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah debate

Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has labeled Mohamed Sarah as the best player in the world.

The Egypt manager finds himself in a unique position – having worked with both Cristiano Ronaldo and Mo Salah — but he let down his fellow countryman with recent comments.

Queiroz was Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant manager during Ronaldo’s first spell at Old Trafford, where he built a strong connection with the Portuguese speakers at the club.

While he had clashes with the likes of Roy Keane (who didn’t?), Queiroz has always been close to Ronaldo, who he helped develop into the world’s best footballer.

However, when pressed on how he expected Egypt to perform at the African Cup of Nations, he explained how Mo Salah could lead his teammates to glory.

“Probably you agree with me that in our team we have the best player on the planet at the moment,” Queiroz told the press ahead of the tournament, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“If my friend Cristiano Ronaldo listens to this, he will be upset!”

One can’t blame Queiroz for motivating his star player before the AFCON kicks off.

Ronaldo, aged 36, probably isn’t at the same level as Mo Salah these days but he still scores plenty of goals.
