Eric Bailly ready for African Cup of Nations

Eric Bailly has been given the green light to link up with his Ivory Coast teammates ahead of the African Cup of Nations, which we are excited to see kick off this weekend.

The defender missed Monday’s Premier League defeat against Wolves due to injury, leading to the surprise inclusion of Phil Jones at centre-back, but has been passed fit to represent his country at the AFCON, according to ManUtd.com.

This year’s final is set to be played on 6 February, so we will have to wait to see how far Bailly’s side progress, but he will definitely miss our two upcoming games against Aston Villa.

A good AFCON for the United defender will only help him come under Rangnick’s spotlight.

Ivory Coast start their AFCON campaign against Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday 12 January before taking on Sierra Leone.

Those clashes come before their toughest tie on 20 January against Algeria.

We’ll be keeping an eye on how Bailly gets on at the AFCON this year.

Hopefully he comes through it without more injuries.
