Video: Aaron Lennon fools Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly to lay Man United defensive woes bare and pull a goal back for Burnley

The Manchester United backline still look woefully unfit for purpose as Aaron Lennon rolled back the years and some to arguably score one of the best goal of his career against us for Burnley tonight.

In the 37th minute of the tie, just as it looked like we were coasting to victory and a clean sheet wrapped alongside it, the Clarets pulled a goal back to ruin those hopes.

Eric Bailly intercepted a wayward pass with a heavy touch and was duly punished as Aaron Lennon skipped away with the ball, before driving past Nemanja Matic with ease – despite now being without the bundles of pace that helped him shoot him to stardom many years ago.

Lennon then took the ball right, taking a worryingly and repeatedly non-committal Harry Maguire along for the ride before he popped the ball into the bottom corner with a tidy finish.

With all due respect to a moment of magic that saw Lennon turn back time, we just shouldn’t be allowing someone to do this in only their second Premier League start of the season.

What should Rangnick do with the centre-back situation at this point?

Bailly did himself no favours in warranting a spot once he returns from the Africa Cup of Nations and Raphael Varane looked awful against Newcastle, so do you actually think that Victor Lindelof should land a starting berth ahead of Maguire once he’s available again?
