Barcelona set for talks with Manchester United over Edinson Cavani transfer

Edinson Cavani could leave Manchester United in January.

From speaking to a lot of United fans about this in recent days, there is a strong feeling of disappointment that we haven’t seen more of Cavani because he’s been brilliant when fit.

Cavani’s injuries would be an even bigger issue for United had Cristiano Ronaldo not returned to Old Trafford in the summer, but now the Uruguayan is reportedly close to leave the club to join Barcelona.

The La Liga giants are desperate to sign a goalscorer to replace Sergio Aguero, who has been unable to kick start his Barcelona career due to having to announce his retirement this week due to heart problems.

According to Sport, Cavani is top of the list and close to an agreement with Barcelona, who are set to hold talks with United in the next few days.

It remains to be seen whether Cavani has played his final game for the club – with so many games being postponed in the Premier League – but he should be ready to return from his tendon injury soon.

Is it time to say goodbye to Edi?

  1. We must keep Cavani and get rid of Ronaldo! He is the one who has destroyed the team confidence. His ego has dominated. We’ll lose every good player if we keep Ronaldo.
