Manchester United play host to Arsenal as Michael Carrick takes charge of his final match as caretaker boss. Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the line-up as expected.
The new manager, on an interim basis at least, will be sat in the stands – more than likely the directors’ box – as Arsenal visit Old Trafford looking to bridge a greater gap ahead of United in the Premier League.
Ralf Rangnick will be assessing his new team.
Arsenal could go fourth with a win tonight, after West Ham were held to a 1-1 draw against Brighton on Wednesday night.
This will be Carrick’s third match as caretaker manager. With him in charge, United beat Villarreal 2-0 and drew 1-1 with league leaders Chelsea on Sunday. His aim will be to remain unbeaten tonight but to take all three points.
United face an Arsenal side that believe they have turned a corner under Mikel Arteta, but tonight we must rain on their parade and begin our climb up the table to a stronger position.
Carrick has made three changes to his line-up.
Manchester United XI to face the Gunners: De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles, McTominay, Fred, Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford, Ronaldo.

Question marks will be asked of the midfield duo Scott McTominay and Fred, like, how will they cut off the lanes to help the full-backs defensively.
I’m not one bit surprised to see Ronaldo back in the line-up, as we predicted his return this week, and he will be hungry as ever to ensure United take three points. A lot of people are doubting whether he will work under Rangnick, but I see no real reason to doubt one of the best players of all-time.
Come on United!
