(Video) David de Gea unfazed by Ralf Rangnick links following Chelsea draw

Manchester United earned a hard-fought draw at Chelsea in what could have been Michael Carrick’s final game in charge of the side as caretaker manager, with links to German philosopher Ralf Rangnick intensifying with each passing day.

Chelsea dominated proceedings in London and United were largely made to defend for extended spells but came out of the 90-minute affair with a valuable point against the league leaders.

David de Gea was at the heart of the action once more as he made a series of impressive saves, including a fingertip stop to deny Antonio Rudiger in the first half.

The imperious Spaniard has delivered his post-match verdict after the game but was also questioned on the rumours of Rangnick taking over, as seen below.

“Let’s see, let’s see what happens,” De Gea told Sky Sports, via Football Daily, when quizzed on the possibility of Rangnick joining the club. “Now it’s Carrick, the manager, we are with him.

“We won against Villarreal, we draw here today. Of course, we are conceding many chances still but like I said, the team is together, this makes us stronger.”

The 31-year-old was unfazed by questions over the managerial role but insists the team is improving after a tumultuous week.

SN’s verdict on De Gea’s season so far…
You’d struggle to find anyone who could argue against De Gea being United’s player of the year so far. Last season ended in unimaginable agony for the goalkeeper but he has recovered in sensational fashion.

De Gea has emerged as an unlikely source of inspiration for many players, with other figures in the first-team remaining on the fringes.

Dean Henderson will hope to reclaim that number one position under the new manager but as things stand, De Gea is safe from any competition.
