David de Gea issues reality blow to United team-mates after shocking Watford defeat

Manchester United fans knew going into this run of fixtures that our recent form wasn’t good enough, after being outclassed by Leicester City, Liverpool and Man City. Today it happened again, versus Watford.

You don’t need me to tell you this isn’t good enough, but it wasn’t supposed to go this way. United’s results of late are shocking to say the least but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer outlived real beatings against our arch-rivals.

Is this the final straw, losing 4-1 to Watford?

Time will tell if the board can trust him in Europe, with the trip to Villarreal up next.

One player who will be expecting more from his team-mates is David de Gea.

He dealt a blow to each individual in the squad who thinks United will be winning trophies anytime soon.

“A club like Manchester United, we have to be fighting for trophies,” De Gea said after the match, video courtesy of Football Daily. “To be honest, we are far from there.”

That doesn’t bode well for new signings, does it?

De Gea issued some home truths in his post-match interview, which Sky Sports News did their utmost to tease out before an ad-break.

The Spaniard is probably the only individual involved today not at fault, so he feelings at half-time are appreciated because they come across genuine — unlike a rubbish apology on social media.
