Eric Bailly shortlisted by AC Milan with captain possibly leaving Serie A giants

AC Milan could lose captain Alessio Romagnoli at the end of the season on a free transfer since his current deal with the Serie A giants is set to expire next June.

In response to that AC Milan need to find an adequate replacement and it won’t be an easy task by any means.

According to Calciomercato, AC Milan are doing their utmost to prepare for what seems like the inevitable loss of Romagnoli, which is why they’ve already created a shortlist of centre-backs they could try sign in the summer.

The names mentioned are Frank Kessie’s compatriots in Eric Bailly of Manchester United and Sinaly Diomande of Lyon. However, it remains to be seen whether the midfielder will still be at Milan next season, with lots of interest sparking around his signature.

Milan are also linked with Lille defender Sven Botman.

SN’s verdict…

Firstly, it would be a very good move for Bailly. He could play regularly for Milan if he’s able to stay fit and that will be another potential buyer’s biggest concern when it comes to the Ivorian.

Bailly arrived from Villarreal with tons of potential but he is too rash and unpredictable to make it as a top defender at a club like United. We saw just how the Serie A suited Chris Smalling when he joined AS Roma and I would be hoping for similar with Bailly if he joins Milan.

It’s not like he is going to get much of a look in at United, is it?
