(Video) Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand react very differently to Ronaldo’s late equaliser

Rio Ferdinand got carried away while Paul Scholes looked miserable as Cristiano Ronaldo salvaged a precious Champions League point for Manchester United against Atalanta.

The 36-year-old goalscorer was also responsible for United’s first equalising goal of the night, right on the brink of half time, and now the Reds are on course to qualify for the knockout stages as planned when the campaign began.

You would have to say it was another unconvincing display for United against a side we should be putting away, but individual errors cost us as well as abysmal defending which has been the case for much of the season now.

If we play like we did last night on Saturday, it could be another humiliation on the cards at Old Trafford and we don’t want that.

Paul Scholes sent his warning last night like he did before we took on the Scousers in the Premier League and it doesn’t read well for the optimistic Red.

He was sat along with Ferdinand in the BT Sport studio and their reactions to Ronaldo’s second goal couldn’t have been more different.

BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey even asked Peter Crouch if he was having just as much fun in the studio.

“No, not at all!,” the former Premier League striker said, before adding: “Scholesy was having as much fun as we were!”

SN’s verdict…

I jumped around the place like Rio Ferdinand and that didn’t mean I was overlooking the shoddy performance on display. United were below par against a side I think we should be beating without complications.

Scholes’ reaction was numb and weird to see as a supporter of the club.

He looks like someone who is completely fed up with what he’s having to watch every week, but not everyone has thrown in the towel ahead of the Manchester derby on Saturday.

Keep the faith.
