Michael Owen doesn’t see Manchester United beating Atalanta

Speaking to BetVictor, Michael Owen gave his prediction for tonight’s Champions League encounter between Atalanta and Manchester United.

The former United striker, who spent three years at Old Trafford, said: “That was huge, potentially season-saving win for Manchester United on Saturday [vs Tottenham].

“I thought the change of shape worked really well and the strike duo of Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo caused lots of problems.

“This will be a tough game for Man United, though, and a point would be an excellent result for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.”

Owen predicted a 1-1 draw tonight which wouldn’t be the worst result for the Reds, though given the context of this fixture, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs a result regardless. He needs another on Saturday in the Manchester derby, so there will be one eye on that game tonight as well.

After coming back from 2-0 down in the reverse fixture, I think United are well positioned tonight to pick up an away win, and it wouldn’t even be against the odds.

Atalanta will set up to suit us and we should me more than capable of hitting them on the counter-attack with Marcus Rashford and Ronaldo starting up front.
