Three Premier League clubs in race to sign €22m-valued Man Utd midfielder – report

Three Premier League clubs are plotting a January move for Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, according to reports. The 28-year-old has been limited to just one start in all competitions this season and could be on his way out.

Lingard resurrected his career last season with an impressive six-month loan at West Ham, scoring nine goals and assisting another four in just 16 appearances for the Hammers.

He has less than one year remaining on his contract at Manchester United but despite being eligible to speak with foreign clubs in less than three months, he is valued at a whopping €22m by Transfermarkt.

According to Football Insider, Everton, Newcastle, and West Ham are all interested in making a move for Lingard in January, with the Merseyside club said to lead the race to sign him.

Lingard was expected to play a bigger role in United’s first-team squad this season after his loan spell at West Ham and an impressive pre-season but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reluctance to use him could push him towards the exit.

Despite being sparingly used by the Norwegian manager, Lingard has scored two Premier League goals this season and played a vital part in Cristiano Ronaldo’s 95th-minute winner vs. Villarreal last month.

At 28, a move away from Manchester United could be exactly what Lingard needs to realise his ambitions of playing regularly in the Premier League.
