Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in Monaco ace Aurelien Tchouameni.
Both clubs have been linked to the Monaco midfielder over the last transfer window, with United’s midfield especially in need of bolstering.
But finding that positional midfielder to sit in front of the back four has not been an easy job for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is hoping for enough time in the job to complete his squad, which will presumably take another year.
Chelsea already have Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, with Roben Loftus-Cheek, Ross Barkley and Saul Niguez as back-up options.
Solskjaer has his preferred combination of Fred and Scott McTominay, backed up by Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Donny van de Beek.
Quite the difference in levels.
United should look to move Van de Beek on in January since he is clearly surplus to requirements. The Netherlands international isn’t happy sitting on the bench and the club could recoup some of the money to strengthen Solskjaer’s midfield.
The Express reckon Everton could be revived after a transfer for Van de Beek was blocked on deadline day in the summer.
Several other names have been linked to the club, not just Tchouameni — such as England duo Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips.
