Following recent confirmation that a Saudi-backed consortium has successfully taken over Newcastle United, the club’s new hierarchy are already pressing ahead with transfer plans for the upcoming winter window.

News earlier this week confirmed that Saudi-Prince and mega-wealthy Mohammad Bin Salman has become the Magpies’ new majority owner, as per BBC Sport.

The affluent Saudi Arabian politician, who boasts a net worth of billions of pounds, is now expected to pump large sums of cash into the club in order to rebuild their on-field playing squad.

It has recently been reported (CaughtOffside) that one player the Geordies are targeting is Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

However, in addition to the English shot-stopper, Stretty News understands that Newcastle United’s recruitment team have already made contact over the possibility of signing Manchester United’s Anthony Martial in January.

Anthony Martial is now a target for Newcastle United.

Martial has struggled for form in recent seasons and following the summer signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Frenchman now appears to be way down in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pecking order.

A club source, who has been involved in initial talks, has revealed to us that Newcastle United have made formal contact with the Red Devils, as well as the player’s representative.

It isn’t just in England that Martial is wanted though – we understand that a handful of Spanish clubs have also expressed an interest in signing the France international.

However, with Newcastle United’s takeover now a done deal, the Magpie’s are looking to steal a march on their European rivals in the race to land the 25-year-old attacker.

Manchester United are willing to allow the wide-attacker to depart but although unlikely to recoup it all, will demand as close to the £54m they originally paid Monaco for him, as possible.
