Ronaldo starts! Confirmed Manchester United XI v Newcastle

Manchester United are finally back in action again after the first international break of the season. It was a good break for some United stars, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, and Harry Maguire all shining for their nations.

After winning seven points from the first possible nine, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping to continue his promising start to the new campaign.

The build-up to the game has, inevitably, mainly revolved around whether Ronaldo is going to be starting the game and it has now been confirmed that the 36-year-old is set for a full (second) debut at Old Trafford.

Furthermore, Jadon Sancho is also named in the starting eleven after withdrawing from the England squad with a minor knock. Mason Greenwood keeps his place in the team after his stellar start to the campaign, scoring in all three of United’s fixtures so far. The 19-year-old was also named as United’s ‘Player of the Month’ for August.

A win against Steve Bruce’s side would put United on their way to their best start in the league since 2017 as they prepare to face Young Boys in the Champions League next week.
