(Video) Pitch invaders swarm around Bruno Fernandes for pictures

Portugal were in action today for the third time in a week and in Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence, it was another Manchester United star who stepped up to steal the show.

Portugal sit pretty in their World Cup qualifying group and despite not having their talisman with them, they got the job done against a resilient Azerbaijan side.

Bruno Fernandes was the star of the encounter in Baku, the 26-year-old was at the heart of everything Fernando Santos’ men created in the attacking third. Fernandes was credited with the assist for Bernardo Silva’s opener and played a big part in the second goal.

Towards the end of the game, to little surprise, pitch invaders swarmed around Fernandes with an aim to grab a picture with the superstar midfielder, as seen above.

As the game had not ended yet, Fernandes looked to have little time for the fans in attendance as he nonchalantly walked away from the small crowd that had formed on the pitch.

The game ended 3-0 in favour of the Portuguese, capping off a brilliant week with three victories. Now, Fernandes will make the trip back to Manchester as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his squad prepare to face Newcastle this weekend.
