Jadon Sancho withdraws from England squad due to injury

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho has withdrawn from the England squad due to an injury sustained in training earlier this week, it has been confirmed.

The 21-year-old was one of three Manchester United players to keep their place in Gareth Southgate’s squad following Euro 2020 but after missing the World Cup qualifier against Hungary, he has now been ruled out of their upcoming games against Andorra and Poland.

In a statement by England Football, it’s confirmed that Sancho sustained a ‘minor knock’ in training but following further assessment, the former Borussia Dortmund star will return to Manchester United to continue his recovery.

Despite being ruled out of England’s upcoming games, it’s a positive update from England, who claim that Sancho is still expected to be fit for United’s game against Newcastle on September 11.

The encounter with Newcastle could be his first start for the club, having made an appearance from the bench in United’s only home game so far.
