Manchester United’s U21’s are in action on Tuesday evening as they made the trip to Lincoln for a fixture in the Football League Trophy.
Academy coach Neil Wood oversaw Manchester United U23’s draw at Stamford Bridge last week when Alvaro Fernandez’ late equaliser earned the Reds a point against a scrappy Chelsea side.
Manchester United were once again pegged back in this fixture – Lincoln asserted their dominance on the young United side immediately and took a comfortable three-goal lead. Anthony Scully, who is an academy graduate at West Ham, was credited with a hat-trick before Wood’s side eventually grabbed a foothold in the game.

It was once again Charlie McNeill who United relied on to get them out of trouble and the young star made no mistake. Shola Shoretire received the ball on the edge of Lincoln’s penalty area before disguising a perfectly weighted pass into McNeill’s path, who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner.
