Solskjaer offers update on injured Manchester United duo

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has offered an update on injured Manchester United duo Alex Telles and Anthony Elanga. Both players were involved at the start of pre-season but saw their preparations cut short due to injuries.

Telles featured in United’s first pre-season game of the summer against Derby County but was ruled out until September with an ankle injury sustained in training. Elanga was one of the most impressive figures in this summer’s pre-season but missed the final warm-up game against Everton.

The manager has offered a positive update on Elanga, whilst although some additional rehabilitation remains for Telles, the Brazil international is showing the right spirit as he works his way back to the side.

“He’s (Elanga) not fully fit yet. He’s doing his rehab but he’s working hard on the grass,” Solskjaer told the official Manchester United website. “At least he’s out from the gym and outside in the lovely Manchester weather!”

“Alex (Telles) has shown a tremendous attitude to the rehab. He is working really hard and is another one who gets a setback but you can sit down and sulk or you can go back into the gym, work hard and make sure that when you’ve come back you’ve worked on different things.”

Elanga made his breakthrough in the first team towards the tail-end of last season when heavy rotation offered him a chance to make his debut for the club. The 19-year-old, who had struggled with a bothersome shoulder injury earlier this year, scored his first goal on the final day of last season’s Premier League.
