Fabrizio Romano gives update on Man Utd’s delayed Raphael Varane deal

Manchester United were relatively quick to wrap up a deal to bring Raphael Varane to the club. Although interest had been reported throughout last season, expectations were low in the build-up to the summer.

A large section of supporters were focused on the club trying to bring Jadon Sancho to the club again but it soon became apparent that Manchester United were also working on the transfer of Varane.

A move did eventually materialise but with over a week passed since United announced that an agreement in principle with Real Madrid had been reached, the player is yet to make the trip from Madrid to Manchester.

Journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has offered an update on the situation, insisting that the delay in United’s deal for Varane was due to a visa issue.

The problem is said to be resolved, with the player now ‘ready’ to fly to Manchester. Now, the player will have to quarantine upon arrival in England before undergoing his medical.
