Manchester United open contract talks with young midfielder

Manchester United are planning for the future and have opened contract talks with young midfielder James Garner, according to reports. The 20-year-old is part of this summer’s pre-season squad and has featured in all three games so far.

Garner spent last season on loan in the Championship, with a miserable first half of the term with Watford before excelling under Chris Houghton at Nottingham Forest.

Garner’s stellar displays at Forest has earned him renewed interest from the club, with Sheffield United also said to be interested in bringing him in this summer.
