Chelsea target highly-rated free agent Sergio Romero after leaving Man Utd

Following his departure from Manchester United earlier this summer, Sergio Romero is a free agent being linked with a move to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The story stem from a recent Telegraph report suggesting the Blues are looking to bolster their goalkeeper options ahead of the new season.

Romero, 34, has only left United this summer after joining from Sampdoria in 2015 when Louis van Gaal was in charge.

Last season he hardly got a look in with David de Gea and Dean Henderson fighting for the first-choice spot.

He will be weighing up his options over the coming weeks before making his definite decision.

Chelsea already have three goalkeepers in the senior squad, with Edouard Mendy being Thomas Tuchel’s number one (#16) as well as Kepa Arrizabalaga and Jamie Cumming.

Romero would be happy with cup games but his game time at United was completely cut in the last year.
