The reason behind Sancho delay and when it could be announced

Jadon Sancho is due back from his holiday in less than two weeks but as things stand, the winger remains a Borussia Dortmund player. Fears were eased earlier this week but a deal is yet to be completed.

An agreement in principle with Dortmund was announced by Manchester United on July 1 but a transfer was subject to a medical, which Sancho completed less than 48 hours after England’s Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy on July 11.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer addressed the matter in the aftermath of United’s 2-1 win over Derby last week, claiming that only paperwork remained before the club could announce that a deal had been completed.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the hold-up is due to a ‘minor issue’. It is not specified what the issue is but that club is reportedly hopeful of announcing the transfer before the weekend.

An announcement had originally been planned late last week but the small delay means that supporters are still waiting for the final word on the highly anticipated move.
