Mason Greenwood gives verdict on Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo debate

The age-old question of which player is superior – Barcelona’s Lionel Messi or Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo, continues to roll on. The latest big name to weigh in and give their opinion on which superstar is best has been Manchester United young attacker Mason Greenwood.

Speaking to the Red Devils’ official website, Greenwood, 19, has admitted that he believes Messi is the better of the two players.

The debate, which has become an ongoing discussion among professionals and fans for many years, is a fun topic to chat about – but really, in reality, it’s a nonsense argument.

Both players have been at the top of the game for long that we, the fans, have become so accustomed to seeing them smash records week in, week out, that we’ve almost become guilty of taking their contributions to the sport for granted.

Between the two world-class attackers, they have lifted up an eye-watering 72 major trophies, racking up a stunning 1,531 goals, both domestically and internationally combined.

Greenwood’s opinion on the ‘GOAT’ debate is likely to cause some shock among supporters, especially considering Ronaldo’s legendary status among the United faithful.

Having turned out for the Red Devils for six years between 2003 and 2009, Ronaldo contributed hugely to the peak of the club’s success, which included three Premier League titles and one Champions League.
