Reports in Spain provide positive update on Man United’s pursuit of Raphael Varane

Manchester United are in a great position to sign Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane. Recent reports have suggested that the French defender is on the verge of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu, with the Red Devils expected to be frontrunners.

That’s according to a recent report from Spanish outlet Deportes Cuatro, who claims the Red Devils and Real Madrid remain in negotiations over a possible summer transfer.

Most interestingly though, United’s pursuit has been offered a huge boost after the same outlet claimed the defender will not renew his contract with Los Blancos, which is set to expire in 12-months time, nor will he be allowed to move for free this time next year.

Therefore, should the report prove to be true, then there is only one outcome this summer – the player moves on and with former partner Sergio Ramos joined Paris-Saint Germain, it’s unlikely the Ligue 1 giants will pursue Varane as well.

United could be set for a very busy summer and despite currently preparing to firmly unveil Jadon Sancho, recent reports have linked the club with at least two more signings.
