Man United’s talks for defender reaches stalemate

Manchester United and the representatives of Atletico Madrid full-back Kieran Trippier have reportedly reached a stalemate over a possible summer transfer.

That’s according to a recent claim from freelance journalist Jonathan Shrager, who has reported that although the Red Devils remain in contact with the defender’s agents, the two parties have yet to make any progress.

Trippier, 30, has spent the summer away on international duty with Gareth Southgate’s England.

Despite seeing his country fall at this summer’s Euros’ final hurdle, Trippier enjoyed a decent tournament overall.

Seemingly looking to return to the Premier League ahead of next season, the player, who joined Atletico Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2019, is understood to be welcoming a move back to England’s top-flight (Telegraph).

United are understood to be continuing in talks to sign Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and having already secured Jadon Sancho, recent reports have suggested the club could already be eyeing a third significant deal – but could that be Trippier? – Let us know what you think in the comments.
